Hot Under the Collar

I love the thickness and warmth of a wool sweater on a cold winter day. However, the pleasure of wool quickly disappears when it encompasses my neck. The fibers are too irritating and uncomfortable for me to wear. Even though one must sometimes suffer for fashion, I decided to do something about it.

After pondering a fashion fix, I decided the easiest and most effective way was to attach a thin piece of fleece fabric to the inside of the offending collars.

After purchasing some black fleece fabric and hand-sewing it around the collars of my wool zip-up sweaters, I can now comfortably wear all of them with no worries about irritation or redness as it embraces my neck! Plus, the added thin layer of fleece, keeps me extra warm for those icy, bone-chilling days.

Note: Make sure to choose a piece of colored fleece that matches your sweater, so that it is inconspicuous.
