Love: An Ancient Story

I have had a love affair with Greek and Roman myths for as long as I can remember. When I was just a little dandy, I begged my mother to buy me a Perseus and Pegasus action figure (which I hope is still in her attic) from the "Clash of the Titans” movie starring, Harry Hamlin.
I loved my Perseus and Pegasus action Figure!
Harry Hamlin stars as the heroic Perseus
My continued obsession with Greek history and literature led me to spend several wonderful semesters pouring over and discovering the many facets of the “Iliad” at Georgetown University.

Now, to my enjoyment and excitement, comes along a book by Byrne Fone that reimagines Homer’s epic in “Achilles: A Love Story.”

This work of historical fiction, told through the eyes of Antilochus, son of King Nestor and Prince of Pylos, speaks of the deep love that Achilles and Patrocles share. With the retelling of their story, Fone humanizes the heroic warrior and his lover as they fight together in the last year of the Trojan war.

If you are fascinated with Greek myth or are looking for a good book to curl up with on these last winter nights, I highly recommend “Achilles: A Love Story.”
