An Organized Life…Is a Good Life

If you follow the Dandy regularly, you know that I love choices. This love, of course, extends to my collection of bags for work. Another thing that the Dandy loves is organization, so when I discovered this wonderful product from The Container Store, I was very excited!

This “handy holdall” allows me to organize all of my work bags and put them on display, so that I can choose between them on a busy workday morning.

Today, for example, I needed something to go with my brown suede shoes and madras jacket.

After careful consideration, I chose my Fred Perry shoulder bag that I purchased in San Francisco.

After collecting Bailey and his workbag, I was ready for a hard day at the office!

I love having my bags at the ready for any occasion and it keeps my closet floor free and clear for more shoes!!

All Tied Up...

Every Dandy needs to wear a bow-tie now and then. However, I never wear them often enough that I can remember how to tie them.

Thankfully, Park & Bond…a wonderful blog by the Gilt group came to the rescue with their easy to use “mirror edition” instructions.

Simply print and hang the graphic illustration to your mirror and soon you’ll be on your way with dashing success!

The Stylish Yogi - Serene Spaces

When I sent out Tuesday’s post, The Stylish Yogi, a reader commented on the wall behind me. She loved the wall graphic and how it was incorporated into the look of the room.

I love our home gym and find it an energizing and fun space. To create such an atmosphere, we took our dingy dark garage (that served only as a catchall storage space) and freshened it up with floor to ceiling paint. We chose a soft gray color to give it a modern feel.

Then I discovered inexpensive wall graphics at IKEA and began to strategically place them around the room. Because our garage walls are brick, I attached the wall graphics with silicone to add extra hold.

Once the background was in place, we moved our yoga and gym equipment in and have enjoyed the space ever since.

If you have a room that is dedicated to storing your old and forgotten items, think about how you can reclaim that space and begin to fully enjoy your home! Martini’s optional!!

Autumnal Arrangement

As the air began to get a little cooler, I became excited about the coming fall season and felt the urge to create an arrangement for our coffee table that would reflect the changing season.
So this past weekend, armed with a pair of shears and a beautiful urn as a base, I headed out to the garden for some natural inspiration where I began collecting dried annabelle and limelight hydrangeas, sedum, nandena and some grasses.

After collecting all of my clippings, I began creating my centerpiece by placing a flower foam core inside the urn to provide a secure base for the dried flowers. I then began placing my annabelle and limelight hydrangeas in the foam and interspersed them with sedum and nandena berries topping it all off with a few grassy stems.

The results were a decadent autumnal centerpiece!

As you prepare for fall, don't forget to bring inside some of those beautiful outdoor touches to mark the changing season!
